The app also offers the option to subscribe to Healthcare Authorities in your area for information about COVID-19, providing updates and alerts regarding potential exposure to the virus. Developed by Path Check Inc, PathCheck SafePlaces is part of a global movement to develop free, open-source, privacy-by-design tools for residents, public health officials, and larger communities.
PathCheck has emerged from initial privacy-first research conducted by MIT and TripleBlind, and has now become a non-profit organization called PathCheck Foundation. The foundation aims to support the global rollout of the PathCheck app and associated tools for contact tracers and healthcare authorities, with the ultimate goal of enabling the reemergence and re-opening of economies and communities.
